KIFTSGATE Cut Flowers – Unique Opportunity
About the role
We’re seeking a reliable and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about flowers and ideally has some horticultural experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and assist in growing the business, with income earned through a self-employed, profit-sharing arrangement.
We are a first-year micro flower farm (c.168 sqm of beds). Our main sales channel is selling bunches at the entrance to the gardens, which attract around [insert number] visitors annually (April to September). However, there is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to grow the sales channels and expand the business.
The gardens are open during April (Mon, Wed and Sun, 2pm to 6pm), May to August (Mon–Thu and Sun, 12pm to 6pm), and September (Mon, Wed and Sun, 12pm to 6pm). Ideally, flowers will be bunched and available for sale during opening days, although timings are flexible.
Responsibilities
Weeding, harvesting and bunching flowers.
Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the flower farm.
Other tasks as needed, including assisting with deliveries or events (depending on the season and workload).
Contributing ideas on marketing and views on growing the business.
Skills and experience
No prior experience is necessary, but a passion for flowers and gardening is essential.
The ability to work independently.
Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
A positive attitude and willingness to share ideas.
Reliability and punctuality are crucial.
Remuneration and benefits
We are looking for a self-employed partner to grow the cut flower business on a profit-sharing basis. Details will be discussed during the interview process.
