BOTANICAL PAINTING
Tuesday 21st April 2026 9am-1pm
Ā£85 per person*
*Workshop limited to 10 places
Join leading British botanical artist Katharine Amies for a relaxed and enjoyable morning of drawing and painting.
Beginning with the basics, you will learn how to use pencil to create shapes that appear convincingly three-dimensional, and then apply these skills to a small vegetable or piece of fruit. Next, Katherine will demonstrate how to apply watercolour, showing you how to move the paint across the paper to build smooth, layered tones. You will go on to draw and paint a flower or another small botanical subject.
This workshop is suitable for everyone, including complete beginners. The aim is to enjoy the process and leave feeling pleasantly surprised by what you have created, and with a new sense of confidence.
Katharine trained at the Chelsea Physic Garden in 2001. Her work is represented in the Shirley Sherwood Collection of Botanical Art at Kew Gardens and the Hunt Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA (home to the most prestigious botanical art collection in the world). She has exhibited widely and her painting classes are highly sought after.
