At
the end of the North Border turn right down some steps under
the Scotch firs. In August and September the two borders surrounding
the Mother and Child statue (also by Simon Verity), are covered
in the pink and white flowers of Cyclamen hederifolium,
followed all winter with their marble like leaves. From here
a fine view of Mickleton church and the Evesham Vale can be
seen.
If
you divert to the left as you start down the steep path you
will find the rock of the bank exposed to form a natural rockery.
There is very little soil here making it difficult to get
plants established. However, Hebe hulkeana has survived
many years on this windy bank.
