As the season progresses the colours in the Yellow Border become stronger. Annuals and later flowering perennials come into their own as this border fills to overflowing. Foliage is important throughout with variagated astrantia and brunnera in the spring giving way to purple ligularia and blue grey hosta in the summer. The striking colours of lillies, crocosmia, dahlia, kniphofia and helenium bring the season to its climax in August and September.
